See recommended batteriesFor most 2008-2012 Accords with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder, Honda's parts catalog lists a Group 51R, part 31500-SR1-100M. Some four-cylinder cars get a second listing, though, and that's what confuses people. For 2008-2011 PZEV sedans, 2008-2012 coupes and 2012 sedans, Honda also lists a 70D23L-MF battery, part 31500-SL5-100M. Both show up for those cars, so the label on the battery under your hood is what decides it. The 3.5-liter V6 is simpler. It gets a Group 24F, Honda part 31500-TK8-A2100M, rated at 630 cold cranking amps. Keep in mind that a 24F is a physically bigger case than a 51R, so the V6 battery and the four-cylinder battery are not the same size.

What to check before buying
- Group size: this controls physical fit, hold-down, and terminal position.
- Terminal direction: 51R has reversed terminals; 51 and 51R are not interchangeable.
- CCA: match or exceed the rating on your current battery in the same group size.
- Type: match the type printed on your current battery (flooded, EFB or AGM).
